What it is

Vamo is a mobile app that suggests outings in Belgium. VamoScout is the small program that keeps its agenda up to date. It reads public event listings from official agendas, open-data feeds and the websites of venues and organisers, and turns them into event facts: a title, a date, a place, a price, a link back to you.

What it reads, and what it doesn't

• Only public pages that list events, and only the pages a site's robots.txt allows. It never signs in anywhere.
• Event facts only. It does not copy your descriptions or your photos: the app writes its own short texts and uses its own licensed image library. Every event links back to your page.
• No personal data, and nothing from Facebook or Instagram.
• Nothing from a source is shown in the app before a person has checked the site's terms of use.

How often

Politely. At most one request every two seconds to a site, more slowly if your robots.txt sets a Crawl-delay. It sends conditional requests so unchanged pages cost nothing, backs off when a site answers slowly or with an error, pauses a source that keeps failing, and stops at any login or challenge page. The whole crawler has a daily request budget.
